2019 Gilman and CLS Advisor Workshops
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program and the Critical Language Scholarship Program are excited to announce the 2019 Gilman and CLS Advisor Workshops.
Workshops will be held on June 7 at the University of Alabama and on July 19 at Towson University.
A third workshop in the Midwest will occur in late summer and we will announce the details very soon.)
These one-day workshops will bring together approximately 50 Gilman and CLS advisors per workshop to share best practices for promoting the Gilman and CLS Programs to potential applicants, supporting applicants during the application process, engaging with alumni upon program completion, and leveraging alumni for recruitment and promotion. The workshops will also provide advisors with in-depth resources for and updates to the Gilman and CLS Programs and build and strengthen the Gilman and CLS advisor networks for future sharing of resources and best practices.
The workshops, the Gilman Scholarship, and the CLS Program are programs of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. government and supported in their implementation by the Institute of International Education and American Councils for International Education.
Workshops will begin at 8:30am and will conclude by
5:00pm. There is
to attend a workshop. Advisors may apply in this application for a modest travel stipend to defray travel costs of attending a workshop. Space is limited and will be filled on a rolling basis. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously attended an advisor workshop and applicants who work at institutions in the same or neighboring region as the workshop location.
Please complete the application below in one sitting; the application should take you about 15 minutes to complete. The workshop at Towson University is full and we are no longer taking applications for this workshop.
We have a few open spaces for the workshop at the University of Alabama, so we are extending the deadline to apply for this workshop only until June 1, 2019.
Applicants will be informed of their awarded travel stipend within 1-2 weeks of completing this application and will then be asked to confirm their workshop attendance within one week.
Please note: if you confirm your attendance but then learn you are no longer able to attend the workshop, you must alert IIE immediately by sending an email to email@example.com. Confirmed attendees who do not attend the workshop may be asked to return their full travel stipend.
