Brazil Scientific Mobility Program Intensive English Program Application- Summer 2013

Dear Colleagues,

The Brazil Science Without Borders program is now the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP).

The summer 2013 BSMP Intensive English application is now open. Please use the link below and the attached form to submit your application to participate. As our survey will not allow you to save and return later, we recommend you first compile your responses using the attached word document, so that you can upload them all together.  

Please note: this application is only for summer English sessions. The summer English component is for candidates who score between a 61-78 IBT/ 500-549 Paper Based TOEFL (PBT). They will be placed in 6-8 week intensive English programs beginning in June 2013 and commence their non-degree academic programs in the Fall term August/September 2013. Most are 3rd year undergraduates studying in the STEM fields. Every effort will be made to place students into Intensive English Programs and academic programs at the same site. 2) Summer Programs and Dates

Please use the two entries below to give information about your summer sessions. Please complete each session as necessary. BWSB grantees are only eligible for 6-8 week English programs. When determining your reporting and departure dates please consider the availability of housing and when your orientation and placement/exit exams are given.

4) Arrangements

All program costs (tuition, fees, housing, meals and health insurance) must be invoiced to IIE directly by the university/IEP. BSMP grantees receive a reasonable stipend from the program sponsor to cover necessities, but this stipend is not meant to cover the abovementioned costs. IIE is unable to provide BSMP grantees with a direct stipends.

Room & Board

All students participating in the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program are recommended to reside on campus, in standard shared living arrangements. Preference is given to dorm rooms, then suites, then on-campus apartments. The scholarship will not cover premium accommodations.

It is essential that your institution be able to provide a comprehensive meal plan, which includes access to breakfast, lunch and dinner for the grantees 7 days per week regardless of whether they reside on or off-campus. Acceptable options include access to on campus dining halls and dining dollar plans which allow students to spend money at on-campus locations and/or off-campus locations and/or grocery stores.

7) IEP Site Description

Grantees know very little about the institutional variety in U.S. higher education. They are also often unaware of the geographic diversity of the U.S. Please briefly describe your intensive English program, college/university and community. For example, describe the program history, type, size, local area, access to public transportation/cities, climate, etc. This program description will be included in the Terms of Appointment and will be their first introduction to your program.
